Situated on the South-east side of the village of Piste, a short 2 km from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Chichen Itza, the Hotel Chichen Itza is an oasis on the edge of town, with manicured grounds adjacent to a lush, tropical environment.
The Hotel Chichen Itza is ideally situated for visiting many of the local sights beyond the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. Explore the nearby cave of Balancanché, the most famous Maya cave sites (only 7.6 km or a 9 minute drive away), visit the Ik-Kil Cenote (6.3 km) where you can swim. Tour the Spanish Colonial city of Valladolid, founded in 1545 (45 minutes away by car) featuring colonial-era convents and cathedrals, like the Convent of San Bernardino of Siena (1552-1560) and the Cathedral of San Gervacio, located on the town square. Walk two blocks from the town’s square to the Cenote Zaki and explore its cave. Another nearby enticement is the Colonial Village of Izamal (about a one hour drive away). Known as the “Yellow City” as most buildings are painted yellow, this town has been continuously occupied throughout most of Mesoamerican history, dating back more than 5,000 years BCE. Five large Mayan temples, Spanish Colonial Monasteries and more await visitors to this “Pueblo Magico”.
At the Hotel Chichen Itza in Piste, you will find yourself smack in the middle of all these wonders and many more enticements. You can visit our new vintage car museum and even rent a vintage Land Rover Defender to see these attractions in style. Our Concierge is only too happy to arrange tours and excursions that will make your visit truly memorable.
