Located, literally, right on the doorstep of the Uxmal Archeological Zone, a mere 350 meters (2/10ths of a mile) — a 4 minute walk — from the Lodge at Uxmal. The majestic Mayan ruins of this UNESCO World Heritage Site beckon you to experience the wonders of the Pyramid of the Magician, the only pyramid in the New world or the Old with an elliptical base and rounded corners. Wonder if the legends are true: Could it really have been built in a day? Continue on to marvel at the Palace of the Governor, the Nunnery Quadrangle, the house of the Tortoises and of the Doves, or the ancient Maya ball court. All these treasures, and more, await you mere minutes out the front door of the Lodge at Uxmal.
The Lodge is the sister property of the Hacienda Uxmal Plantation and Museum, located just across the main road, another short walk. Lodge guests enjoy full and free access to all the attractions and enticements of the Hacienda. Visit this working plantation, drop in at the interactive Choco-Story Cocoa and Chocolate Museum. Learn the story of Cocoa and Chocolate, one of the Maya’s great gifts to the New World. See a Cocoa Tree growing in its native soils. Take time to visit the Vintage Car Museum. You can even rent one of the well-maintained Classic Land Rover Defenders and tour the Yucatan in the same style of classic wilderness explorers.
The Lodge at Uxmal is located in the heart of the Puuc region, the “Hill Country” of the Yucatan. From here, you can visit more than 20 Mayan villages and six archeological parks, over a dozen convents, many located along the Convents Route (Ruta de los Conventos), visit, or even swim in, the crystalline waters of several nearby cenotes, or see one of the many caves that dot this region. This is truly a paradise on earth, just waiting for you to explore.
The Lodge at Uxmal is located on Highway 261 a mere 50 miles south of Merida. Private car service or our shared Mercedes Benz shuttles can be arranged. See the Transportation SPECIAL OFFER for details.
